You are now (or will be soon) the proud owner of a full driver’s license.
Remember that it is a privilege, not a right and until your 18th birthday you still have some restrictions:
FOR THE FIRST 6 MONTHS (SIX) after the license was issued, young drivers may not transport any passenger under the age of 18, except for immediate family members,
The reason is that young passengers are a bigger distraction to young drivers compared to adult passengers. Penalties for violations include extending the restriction for six months or more, and fines for repeated violations.
This applies to all drivers under the age of 18 until they turn 18.
You may not drive between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. unless they are traveling to or from a scheduled event such as school events or work. Law enforcement may ask for satisfactory evidence of the event.
On all Fridays and Saturdays: from midnight until 5:00 a.m. the following day (i.e. Saturdays and Sundays)
Exception:
On the Las Vegas Strip or near the Las Vegas Strip, or during local school holidays and during summer vacation.
9:00 p.m. to 5 a.m the next day
During this time, all children age 18 and under must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian or a responsible person over the age of 21 approved by the child’s parent or legal guardian.
Las Vegas Metro Police (702) 229-3535
Reno Downtown Gaming District: 9 p.m., unless accompanied by an adult.
Elsewhere in Reno: Midnight all weekdays
Curfews in other Nevada cities vary. Call the local police department
That is point zero, two. Not zero point two.
How do you reach the 0.02 level:? 1 beer./1 hour
Attention, 0.2 is indeed 0.20 (2.5 times over the limit for adults)
Drivers can also be arrested for any detectable amount of a controlled or prohibited substance.
Being drunk is not something that can be controlled by the power of the mind.
So do not say” I CAN HANDLE IT !!”. It is a matter of biology.
It depends on everyone’s metabolism, body size and weight. If a 150-pound man has one standard drink, it would give him a BAC of about 0.02 percent. A standard drink is defined as 12 ounces of beer, 4 ounces of wine (small glass), or one shot of 80-proof alcohol. On average, it takes the human body about one hour to dispose of that much alcohol.
Any adult who knowingly serves, sells, or furnishes alcohol to a minor, or allows the minor to consume alcohol on his property, can be held liable in a civil action for any damages caused as a result of the alcohol consumption. This also applies to the use of controlled substances by persons of any age
To protect teenagers is the main reason, especially since their body is not developed as an adult.
One part is that alcohol has the most rapid and greater effect on young people due to their size and lean metabolism.
Also, their body is not used to alcohol, and they get more sensitive to it.
Sorry guys, it’s the truth, Your brain is not fully developed until 21 years of age!!!
The second part is that excessive risk-taking behavior in young people who consume alcohol is related to the relative lack of development of the brain’s frontal lobes in adolescents.
It does not mean you are not intelligent, but this part of the brain does not see the hidden danger in everything (yet), and simply cannot grasp the difference between real life and Video Games. You think you are FULLY GROWN UP AND INVINCIBLE.
From this perspective, the risk of accidental injury due to excessive risk-taking and poor impulse control is particularly likely to be evident in younger teenagers who use alcohol.
Minor driver licenses can be suspended for any of the same reasons as adult licenses and also for non-driving alcohol/drug convictions, firearms violations, or habitual truancy.
Even with a single beer, teenagers’ reasoning gets rapidly affected by alcohol, impairing their judgment.
Because of their inexperience, they think nothing can happen to them.
Instruction Permits are valid for one year. If your permit has expired, you must apply for renewal in person at a DMV office, a parent/guardian must sign another Financial Responsibility Statement.
If the permit is expired more than 30 days, you will have to take the written test again. A testing fee will apply in addition to the renewal fee.
The parent/guardian who signed the Financial Responsibility Statement when the minor applied for the permit can request its cancellation at any time by completing the Minor Affidavit (DP-38) form and presenting it in person at a DMV office. Nevada’s law requires the permit itself to be surrendered to the DMV.
The department can require testing, cancel a permit, or deny the renewal if the applicant has been convicted of traffic violations or other offenses listed under License Suspensions and Revocations.
You must follow DMV reinstatement procedures and physically receive a license to regain your driving privileges, even if your criminal charges were dismissed or reduced.
No state may issue a driver’s license if there is an active suspension or revocation in another state. License suspension and revocation information is shared with all 50 states. If your driving privilege is suspended or revoked in another state, you must follow that state’s reinstatement procedures before obtaining a Nevada driver’s license.
You may lose your Nevada driving privilege or license under certain circumstances. You will be notified by certified mail or by law enforcement of the period of ineligibility and if you are entitled to an administrative hearing. Please be sure to have the correct address on your driver’s license to ensure that you receive our notice.
Examples of driver license suspensions and revocations are listed below. Juveniles may also have the issuance of their license delayed for some offenses.
a) Point suspension – When you accumulate 12 or more demerit points against your license in a 12-month period.

f) Failure to maintain insurance – If you are required to provide proof of financial responsibility because:
Because of a license suspension or revocation and do not do so, or;

l) Graffiti — If you are found guilty of a graffiti violation.
Your license may be canceled for an incorrect or fraudulent license application, or it may be canceled if a check written to pay driver license fees is returned for insufficient funds.
The parent/guardian who signed the Financial Responsibility Statement can request cancellation of the license at any time until the driver turns 18. Complete the Minor Affidavit (DP-38) form and present it and the license in person at a DMV office. The license must be surrendered.
Any adult who knowingly serves, sells, or furnishes alcohol to a minor, or allows the minor to consume alcohol on his property, can be held liable in a civil action for any damages caused as a result of the alcohol consumption. This also applies to the use of controlled substances by persons of any age
All vehicles must be legally registered and insured. Valid proof of registration and insurance must be carried inside the vehicle. Additionally, valid license plates with a current DMV-issued registration sticker must be affixed to the vehicle that corresponds to the registration card carried inside the vehicle.
Nevada DMV requires a minimum liability insurance coverage that provides financial protection to other drivers or passengers for injuries or damage caused by your driving.
